Properly Fitting the Collar

The petTracer Adjustment Band is equipped with a safety buckle that opens if your cat applies a pulling force after getting caught on something. This mechanism has been thoroughly tested to prevent injury by releasing under tension.

However, if the collar is too loose, it may release unnecessarily or, more importantly, allow your cat to slip its jaw or paw through the collar. In such cases, there is no outward pulling force to trigger the safety buckle, and the collar will not open if it ends up inside your cat’s mouth.

This is one of the reasons why a snug and secure fit is essential. The collar must be tight enough that only one finger can fit between your cat’s neck and the collar. If it is any looser, there is a risk that the collar could move forward and catch on the cat’s jaw.

The collar has a minimum circumference of 21.5 cm, which can be reduced by approximately 2.5 cm using an inlay band available from our website. We strongly recommend using the inlay band for smaller cats or those with a narrower neck to ensure a proper fit.

Avoid overstretching or deforming the collar when putting it on. Over time, repeatedly forcing the safety buckle open may reduce its effectiveness, so we advise replacing it with the spare buckle provided if this occurs.

We as a company provide clear instructions, tools, and support to help ensure the collar is fitted correctly. However, we cannot check the fit on each individual cat — final responsibility for ensuring the collar is safe and properly adjusted lies with the cat’s owner.
