Modes explained
Modes Overview
You can change the mode anytime you like by clicking on the clock icon in your portal.
Depending on the mode you select, the collar will receive GPS positions at different intervals. The chosen mode will affect how long the battery lasts.
To prolong battery life, the collar utilises a motion sensor to determine how many position readings to take. When the cat is moving, the collar takes more readings than when it is stationary.
The Contact Time between the collar and the HomeStation will also vary depending on the mode you are on. The contact time is used to send commands to the collar i.e: switch LED on or to change to another mode. It is also used to show you the Radio signal strength which can be used when using the Radio Search function which will show you how close or far away you the collar is from the HomeStation.
Example: In Fast Mode the collar receives a GPS position every 10 minutes when sensing motion or every 60 minutes when stationary. This means that if a cat does not move significantly within 60 minutes, no GPS position will be recorded but if there has been movement during this time you would get 6 GPS positions, one for every 10 minutes.
SEARCH MODE
This is petTracer's live-tracking option. When activated, the collar will receive a GPS position every 15 seconds. As this can drastically influence battery levels, Search Mode will turn off automatically after 15 minutes. The collar will return to the last mode you had selected before activating Search Mode. If needed, you can activate Search Mode again.
If you want to turn off Search Mode before the 15 minutes are up, just manually select any of the other modes in your portal.
Good to know: The fastest way to change the collar out of Standard or Slow Mode is by placing it into the HomeStation and then selecting the desired mode. Like this you will not have to wait for the full contact time of the original mode to elapse before the change happens.
BATTERY LIFE
The battery life depends on the chosen mode and the activity level of your cat:- in Fast mode the battery lasts approx. 2-3 days- in Standard mode the battery lasts approx. 5-7 days- in Slow mode the battery lasts 2 to 4 weeks
