Troubleshoot: Not Getting Enough GPS Positions

If you are not receiving enough GPS positions or haven’t seen any new positions for a long time, follow these steps:

Check if the collar is switched on

To switch the collar on, place it into the HomeStation

Verify the tracking mode

  • If the collar is in Slow Mode, try switching it to a faster mode.
  • For immediate tracking, activate Live Mode

Perform a GPS test
  • Take the collar outside under an open sky and activate Live Mode. If you now get positions on the map, read the next section.
  • If you don't get new positions, click on this link: Troubleshoot: Collar stopped working

This is what could be happening if you are not getting enough GPS positions

If your cat is at home, it is normal not to get new GPS positions. You would, however, see that there is strong radio connection between the collar and the HomeStation.

As you already now, for the collar to be able to have GPS reception, it needs to be under an open sky. This means that if your cat is in an area with poor GPS coverage you might not get a new position until he moves again. You could, however, see that there is radio connection telling you your cat is nearby. He could be sitting under a car or be hiding in dense bushes.

If you are worried and need to locate your cat urgently, you need to make the HomeStation mobile and do a radio search: Radio Search Mode

If your cat has a large natural territory he could be out of the HomeStation's signal range. When this happens you will temporarily not see radio connection. GPS positions will still be recorded even when out of range: Poor HomeStation coverage
