Tip - ideal wi-fi hotspot configuration
Preparation
To use the radio search function a mobile HomeStation is needed. What a mobile HomeStation is and how it works can be read here: How to make the HomeStation Mobile
We recommend the following steps to make sure the HomeStation is correctly set up and ready to go at all times. Done this way you should not have to resort to your computer again when making a mobile HomeStation. Up to four Wi-Fi can be stored permanently by your HomeStation.
1. Using the Configurator Software and your computer, remove all configured Wi-Fi
2. Activate your Wi-Fi hotspot and reload the Wi-Fi list
3. Choose your hotspot from the Wi-Fi list, enter your password and click on the add button
4. Add additional Wi-Fi hotspots if needed
5. As the last Wi-Fi add your home Wi-Fi to the HomeStation. You should now have at least two Wi-Fis listed on the right-hand side of the software screen, with your phone's hotspot being the first one
6. Finish the setup and unplug the HomeStation from the computer
Mobile HomeStation in use
When it comes to making the HomeStation mobile please carry out the below steps in the correct order, this is very important:
1. Unplug the HomeStation from the mains
2. Activate your phone's hotspot
3. Plug the HomeStation into your power bank and check on your phone screen that you can see that there is a device connected to your hotspot.
Note: Some iPhones have an automatic hotspot time-out feature. Please make sure you plug the HomeStation into the power bank within 90 seconds of activating your hotspot.
If there has been no contact with the lost cat/collar within 30 minutes, the hotspot connection will break off automatically and you will have to activate it again. Keep an eye on your phone screen to make sure the hotspot connection is still live and reactivate as needed.
