GPS positions are not accurate
Due to the nature of GPS there are many factors that can affect how accurate the positions will be. This is not unique to petTracer but it is the way GPS works in general.
Usually the petTracer system will give you an array of locations to be able to track your cat's whereabouts. Depending on the location of the collar and the elements such as wind and rain, the actual location of the collar could be off by several metres from that shown on the map.
If the collar is stationary you can narrow down the position after having multiple GPS positions. To do this you can activate the
Search Mode. This should be turned off once you don't need it anymore as it will consume more battery than the other modes.
petTracer offers different ways of searching for your cat:
Active GPS Tracking: This would be by looking at the map to see where your cat is.
Passive GPS Tracking: By observing your cat's natural territory you will have a good idea of where to find him. See how to do this
here
Radio Search Mode: Great for cats that are in an area of poor GPS or inside buildings. This can also be a way to pinpoint where the collar is if GPS is not accurate enough.
LED: As a final method, especially in the dark, the LED can be extremely helpful for the collar to stand out.
