Troubleshoot: GPS Positions Are Not Accurate

Due to the nature of GPS, there are many factors that can affect GPS position accuracy. This is not unique to petTracer but it is the way GPS functions in general.

GPS positions are most accurate when the collar is outside under an open sky away from walls or fences.

Typically, the petTracer system provides a series of GPS positions to help track your cat’s movements. However, depending on factors such as your cat's location, environmental conditions (e.g., wind and rain), and nearby obstacles, the actual position may be a few meters off from what is shown on the map.

If your cat is not moving you can narrow down their location by requesting multiple GPS positions. To do this activate  Live Mode. However, remember to turn it off once you no longer need it, as it consumes more battery than other modes.

petTracer Offers Different Ways of Locating a Cat:

Active GPS Tracking: Check the Map to see where your cat is.

Passive GPS Tracking: By checking your cat's territory you will have a good idea of where to find him. See how to do this here.

Radio: Check the strength of the radio signal between the collar and the HomeStation in the Find Nearby section of the app. The closer to 100% the closer your cat is to the HomeStation.

Radio Search using the mobile HomeStation: Great for cats that are in an area of poor GPS coverage or inside buildings.

Beeper: (For collars with serial numbers above 20000). Activate the beeper to help you locate the collar if lost.

LED: Activate this in the dark to help you spot the collar.
